NORMAL AND SUBNORMAL

Can You say over the years that someone is very close or someone reached it?

Guruji: I will say — the level of discussions is now very different and very high; in those days people were asking from whatever books they had read: they were not practicing to the level nowadays we are practicing. Questions were different. I’ve completed more than 40 years of yoga practice — 42 years, a long-long time.

Did You have the feeling that You know everything?

Guruji: No, never! I think my mindset is very different than a normal person — but I think I’m normal. Most of the people are subnormal.

I was not a very talkative person — and now I’m always talking. Maybe some time comes, when we need to talk — and you need good questions and good people asking those questions from their level: only then some good talks will come. And we have got some hilarious moments also: one of my relatives asked me — many of them were not aware what I’m doing: “what have you done in yoga?” I said: not much. — yes, yes, we knew it! (laughing)

Now some breathing techniques like kapalabhati are very popular because they are affecting consciousness so much?

Guruji: It is popular now — then this fashion will pass and new will come.

But it really changes your mind.

Guruji: Anything can change your mind! A good slap on the road is enough to change your mental state. For free! And it will be a moment of self-realisation: when I’m slapped on the road — how I feel? It’s realization, real realization.

Now from my level of understanding I think that one consciousness can meet the other one only by some communication — like talking for example?

Guruji: How water will merge into another water? Imagine the cup of water; how it will merge in the greater body of the water? By crossing the limits. Then only you will merge. That’s why I keep telling: go beyond your physical limits!

There is a word used by Matsyendranath — in Hindi also: avagati, avagat hojan. Suddenly becoming aware: that is cognition. Recognition is when because of your memory you are able to recognize something. But becoming aware is instant, on the spot.

Only after Atit Ghat we will have this ability?

Guruji: I think so, yes. When whatever you observing is not depending on your memory or something you have read before. That awareness can be called cognition.

ARROGANCE OR SELF-CONFIDENCE

Arrogance and self-confidence. It’s easy to achieve arrogance, but very difficult to achieve self-confidence. And how we can differentiate?

Self-confidence is a result of self-awareness. When you become aware of the very confidential things inside you. Your confidence will grow.

In arrogance, you are not even aware what is inside you. It is just a put-up job. I am somebody, I am this and that.

A self-confident person doesn’t have to boast. World will point out to him and appreciate, but they never appreciate an arrogant person.

In fact, what I have seen so far in my time, nobody likes an arrogant person, but many people love the company of a confident person.

So we have to think more deeply of these two things.

How the practitioner, can recognize himself that, yes, this is self-confident, this is not arrogance.

Self-confidence is a result of your deep yoga-practice, because you are exploring yourself, trying to find and become aware who you are. Arrogance will come: oh, I am initiated into such a great lineage. I am far more superior than all the idiots in that place. That is arrogance. Stay away from that.

That is the biggest hider progress I know. Be careful. Thank you.

SATTVA RAJAS TAMAS SAMADHI

Experiencing samadhi we have to go through tamas, rajas and sattwa?

Guruji: No. You just have to go through yoga, properly and thoroughly. In Yoga Darshan sattwa, rajas and tamas are not even discussed. It’s a one-point program. In any yoga book — ancient books — except in Gita — sattwa, rajas and tamas nowhere mentioned. In all Gorakhnath books — no, in Hatha Yoga Pradipika — no.

The question — why?

Guruji: Because we are doing something very practical instead of discussing its philosophical aspect. And when your brain will develop, your consciousness will develop — you will exactly understand what is sattwa, what is rajas and what is tamas. Without enough of understanding you keep on discussing these words; yogis were very practical people.

Then why in Gita it is stressed so much?

Guruji: It’s a mystery: it is a sort of the symbol for Hindus now. Not for now — even for centuries. And it’s a book on yoga: we need to remember that. Sattwa, rajas and tamas are discussed only after you have realized the Universal Form and you have understood what is devotion — then.

And you need to remember: Arjun was a world champion warrior, Krishna was the mightiest being on Earth that time and married 16,000 times: it was a discussion of very high level people. Arjun himself was married several times.

We can start a new cult: to understand Gita you need to marry many-many times (smiling) — this is a pre-condition for understanding.

There are many stories like men were clean their bodies, then shaking trying to go to samadhi, not eating…

Guruji: Then samadhi and death are synonyms in Sanskrit. So in a very cultural way when some old person is dying we say “he is in samadhi”. It is a cultural thing, language thing. It’s a good manner: we don’t say “he dies” — “he is in samadhi”. That’s why I keep telling: try to find out all the meanings of particular word — like “tantra” or “samadhi”.

They are being used nowadays without the understanding of a true meaning. I’ve been discussing this word “samadhi” maybe for the last more than 40 years now: still conclusion is not in sight.

MUTTER

And once we discussed that Mars chose to transform and become a planet?

Guruji: Mars was the son of Mother Earth, he takes care of Mother Earth: Shiva is the father and Earth is the mother. And it keeps taking care of Earth. If you remember, on 17th July 2003 Mars was at the nearest point to Earth — in 76,000 years. And Earth, Moon, Sun and Mars were in one straight line: and the Earth shifted a little. Everything is different now: so he just came nearer to take care of the mother.

Look at the DNA: they are much nearer to the mother than the father.

But in Ayurveda it is said that the skin, blood and flesh you’re taking from the mother — but the bones and nerves you’re taking from the father: is it true?

Guruji: Not exactly.

That’s very interesting — because my second child is exactly like me: what is it?

Guruji: Mind over matter (smiling). And I think matter — you go to the German language — mother is called “Mutter”. Mutter and matter: matter may be the mother of all Creation. We must pay more attention to the languages: they carry very deep meaning.

Why is practice so destructive to the body that we need to exercise?

Guruji: Exercise is not done to destroy your body: it is done to make your body more capable, more strong.

Yes, I mean the practice of Kriya?

Guruji: Samadhi experience. Because it is as good as death. Death experience you’re going through — old age will come: because death is connected with old age. So you need to learn how to neutralize it.

Like balancing?

Guruji: If you want to say this — ok.

That’s why the practice requires a strong body?

Guruji: Otherwise how will you do pranayamas and all these things? You’re using your body to do it. We’re not sitting quietly and thinking nice thoughts. Nice thoughts will come on their own.

WHO YOU ARE?

When we meet each other and create some relationship — like friends or lovers; what is it, relationship of two consciousnesses?

Guruji: What else? If they are unconscious — how will they be friends? They will be lying together in beds in coma — if they are unconscious.

What about the relations of mother and son?

Guruji: The son’s body was created with the mother’s menstrual blood — so the connection is natural and established: so they will be connected.

One time one American came; he was very full of talking — about J. Krishnamurti also; he simply asked me a question — and I think my answer he has not recovered from the shock. “When you look at me — what do You see?” He was hoping that I will see the God’s creation: I said — I’m just seeing your father’s sperm, covered with your mother’s menstrual blood: that is you! And it’s a medical fact, no one can deny that. He was shocked: he never thought it like this. Yogis trying to know the truth, accept it — and then elaborate on it.

I think it is already on record in some book: when the union is taking place — the sperm and ova; the sperm goes inert and ova takes over. And ova is creating all your physical body: sperm is still inert. Look at the shape of brain and spinal cord: it is enlarged sperm. That’s why the need of awakening your chakras and awakening of Kundalini is important. Then the inert sperm will wake up and will be ready to form another union. Very simple analysing.

DO YOUR BEST

Where is the line between individual will and self-discipline and surrender? See, you can surrender to the flow of life, also to the flow of time. But how can you surrender in front of something which you are not even aware of?

You should do your best. Do the best, whatever you can do, and then surrender, because the result will come in time. So that may be a sort of surrender.

But never take a step back. Always put your best foot forward, no matter what the situation is. The results will come in time.

So let us see what will… deal with them.

Too much surrendering is for weak people, and to be a good yogi, you need to be brave and venturesome, very strong-willed, ambitious.

Remember one more thing I will say here: you are the heroine of the story of your life. Do the best you can and go.

SO WHAT IS IT TANTRA?

What about original tantra?

Guruji: “Tantra” originally means “technical aspect”. Engineering is translated as “tantriki”.

So it was no sexual context?

Guruji: I’m talking about the word itself. Engineering literally means tantric. And any technical mechanical aspect of any technical thing is tantra. So the technical aspect of any type of spirituality you can call tantra.

And I have said it on record: somebody asked me — because of my long hairs and kundals, and I’m wearing sometimes red or black — I like it, I’m not a sannyasi — so I can remain any way dressed I like or any way undressed I like — nobody is going to stop me; so he asked me: are You a tantric?

I said: just tell me, who in India is not a tantric?

He said: how?

I simply told him — I will translate that: are you not living in a prajar tantric country? Prajar tantric means democratic country. Prajar means “all the citizens”. All citizens are tantric: democracy is called “prajar tantra”. So we are practicing tantra.

And who is our Prime Minister? Means Pradhan Mantri: the chief knower of mantras! So everybody in India is a tantric. So we are all tantrics — and that is good.

Every technical aspect — even if it is a posture — can be called “tantra”. And the more they are trying to explain it to the westerners — the more complicated it is becoming. But nobody will tell you the literal translation of the word “tantra” — they escape that.

ON YOGA TRENDS AND THE FUTURE

Nath yogis were original yogis; whatever yoga people are trying to put — the roots go back to Nath yogis. They are the founders of it: it’s a direct lineage from Shiva Himself. And Matsyendranath was the first human disciple of Shiva. It’s a very strong organization and they don’t give it to worldly people, very strict rules are there.

Are they still exist?

Guruji: Yes, one of the Nath yogis is the chief minister of UP. They usually don’t move around in society. Sometimes fear comes into my heart: maybe Babaji is pulling back this Kriya yoga art from the society. I’ve been discussing it for quite some time and the feeling is growing. The real art has already disappeared from society: they are now commercial points mostly. He has already withdrawn most of it. I may be the last of my time — and already reached smashan: so we don’t know to which side now the lineage will go.

Do You know Swami Rama?

Guruji: I know Swami Rama, yes.

Is it a strong tradition?

Guruji: Swami Rama became a sannyasi; and then he left sannyasa and married a good lady and produced a daughter. And he created a very big medical institute — so we appreciate what he did for the general public. Maybe that was the final renunciation: that he renounced the renunciation itself. But generally in sannyasa tradition it is not accepted. Once you are committed — you are committed forever.

You remember some old American western movies? That’s a typical hero: he appears out of nowhere, shoots some bad people, stays in the town for some time; when every available girl is pregnant — then suddenly he remembers his mission and rides out to the sunset. It’s a typical cowboy film.

Main point: just be honest with yourself.

Human nature: we like to categorize everything — east, west… now please tell me, where the east begins or from where the west ends? But it’s from our point of view the east is east and the west is west — there is nothing.

GURUJI ABOUT HEAVY WORKOUT

When I went through my first experience — way back in 1985 — it was overwhelming. And I was just in my room more than a month. Hairs on the chest began to be grey, beard grey, head — so much grey: and I was not feeling even to do anything. But that was my good luck: because I was exercising; one day I looked at myself in the mirror and thought: what’s happening with me? And then, by good luck, I decided to start training again. It was a big problem to start; but I continued — and many of the symptoms were reversed. So — we work out like gym maniacs every day.

Guruji, but the persons who are not practicing yoga but exercising every day — they are also growing old?

Guruji: They are not practicing yoga — but they are in a far better condition than the persons who are not exercising at all! This combination with Kriya Yoga is for the first time. And I like it! It is now more like body meditation: because weight training makes you feel every muscle of your body — so you are becoming aware; your awareness is increasing. It’s more like a body meditation. And if you can’t feel the gross thing like your physical body — how can you jump and just feel as subtle a thing as the mind directly?

Could Hatha Yoga substitute the gym?

Guruji: No, that is yoga postures; it is stretching and isometric contraction together. The basic principle of yoga postures is isometric: you put a certain pressure in a certain way on certain things and they are strengthened. But feeling every muscle — only weight training can do. And remember: that was the divine gift of the Olympian gods! Barbells and dumbbells are very ancient equipment — and we have not been able to improve the design for thousands of years! Human beings have worked out — and they will start to look like the Olympian gods: that was a gift. Now bodybuilding has gone in a different way; but you go to the initial workouts: fantastic! You do some research here.

Is it good to mix?

Guruji: Full body workout every day — and yoga. I’ve been doing full body workout for maybe the last 53 years: no protein, no supplement, nothing. And vegetarian, yes. They all see my dinner — how much I eat every day.

What do You think: there exists the opinion that with the weak body the mind becomes very sensitive and roaming everywhere?

Guruji: The physical body is just a support system for your brain: it doesn’t mean that you need to look like a wrestler — you just need to be in top physical condition. Whatever is top for you. And it is a great support for the brain: a healthy mind and a healthy body — as everybody has heard since we were very young.

Because what I observe: if the person is very flexible but not strong — his mind becomes very different: they are very emotional…

Guruji: No, I think strength is needed. We are strength worshippers: strength is needed. And enough confidence will not be there — unless he is carrying the gun (smiling).

JIVAN MUKTI

Jivan mukti, another, I think, highly confusing term. Any person dying, jivan mukti means free from life. So you are dead, that means you are free from life.

If you will analyze the word literally, these are very much confusing terms.

Nobody says Mrityu mukti, liberated from death. We are dying any one day, so liberated from life.

I guess somewhere they compare Videha mukti and jivan mukti.

Oh, these are scholarly things and which will lead to great confusion.

Why nobody says Mrityu mukti? That is the real Moksha.

They say that he attained liberation while living.

Aha, okay.

But if you go literal translation, Jivan Mukti means liberated from life.

From that point of view, only vampires are Jivan Mukti.

ALWAYS IN SAMADHI

In the Gita it is said that all actions must be done in the state of samadhi: what samadhi are they talking about? The state after the first experience of samadhi?
Guruji: After going through several samadhis and practicing yoga for a very long time, your mental state will be different. Lahiri Mahasaya has written in his diaries that after going through 4000 samadhis the mental state will be different (smiling) – and I agree it will be different. Whatever you will do – you will be doing it in that mental state.

But in general, in samadhi the body is still?
Guruji: Initially, when you are practicing samadhi – then. But the experience will always be with you.

But in Autobiography of a Yogi I remember when Yukteswar Giri granted samadhi to his disciple he was standing in front of the gates; maybe it was something different? He was just standing for a few minutes and realized something?
Guruji: He granted samadhi – he just struck him 3 times on his chest – and he was in a superconscious state. Yes, it may be possible for Yogananda and Yukteswar Giri. It is an experience of samadhi; but then again you realize: his progress was forced – he was to go to America.

And I will say: you will feel more confident when you achieve it yourself, with the guidance of your Guru. You can call me an egoistic or a very arrogant person – but this is how I like it with myself and with my disciples. It gives a different type of confidence – and a sense of achievement as well. If somebody just gives you a million dollars – ok; but if you earn a million dollars – the feeling will be very different.

I don’t mind if somebody gives me a million dollars!
Guruji: Yogananda died young: he was hardly 59 when he died. If the experience were so overwhelming – I keep saying – the symptoms of ageing will appear. And he was too busy in public life; it was his duty to do – so he did that. And he could not find enough time to exercise – or maybe weight training was not that popular in those days.

I’ve been stressing it from day one with every disciple: you must work out religiously every day. You must be in your top physical condition.

MEDITATION AND AWARENESS

He describes that you must be conscious every time, very attentive to things?

Guruji: If your awareness is not to that level — you will never be conscious. And Kriya Yoga teaches you how to develop your consciousness — so you will become aware.

It’s like an instrument to get you on the next level?

Guruji: Not the next level — this “levelling” thing I don’t like: this level — that level… We all need some training. You were not in the position to decide which school you would go to: your parents decided. You were not in a situation to take up any name: the name was given to you. That’s how your mind developed and your consciousness began to grow; then finally you were adult and you were aware of so many things. We cannot say that the child doesn’t need to go to school — awareness is already there. Of course it is there: but still he needs some training how to be actually aware. There are two types of people: who never went to school and those who passed out from the school. Which one is knowing more? Which one is more aware? Who passed out from the school. Always remain practical in such matters: if philosophy is involved. Everybody is talking about it — but not many people are teaching how to develop it. That’s the main problem. How to be aware and how to develop your brain: nobody even discusses the brain. They directly go to the mind, concentration and meditation. And never forget: the word “meditation” begins with the word “mad”. It will lead you to that. I’m sitting quietly, thinking nice thoughts — this is general meditation. And it is good for people: because as long as they are meditating — at least they are doing nothing wrong with other people: so it’s a very positive thing.

Guruji, what do You think: awareness is always leading to some changes in a person — or not?

Guruji: Undoubtedly! When you will become aware — you’ll become extremely sensitive also. And you will begin to feel and respect the life of every other being on this planet, from the small insect to the biggest of the mammoths. You will be aware of their feelings: how they feel all these things. It may be a problem for an untrained person. But I think everybody should be that much aware. Then you will also realize that even a small mosquito has the same right to live on this planet as we do. It is life! Vasudeva is there! He also has a spirit, atma.

Even mosquito?

Guruji: Yes — even a virus and even coronavirus.

But Vasudeva lives in the heart: mosquito has no heart — where does he live in a mosquito?

Guruji: He must be having some symbolic heart. And what principle do human beings follow with mosquitoes? If my life means your death — better you die.

GURUJI ABOUT J. KRISHNAMURTI

Do you know J. Krishnamurti?

Guruji: I’ve read most of his books, yes. My humble observation is: always look at the roots of the person. Blavatsky, Annie Besant and the Theosophical Society were training him to be the Buddha Maitreya, the next incarnation — and he simply refused, and the organization ended with him; he dissolved it. No matter how much philosophy you keep talking for the goodness of humanity. From a very grassroots point of view, it was a withdrawal from his mentors.

So you think…

Guruji: I’m thinking nothing — I’m just pointing out the obvious. I’m not giving any opinion on it. What I’m saying: if someone is too philosophical and talking very nicely — you always check out his background.

We don’t know about it.

Guruji: Oh, it’s widespread information now, even on Google. They chose him very carefully with all his astrological things, and they were training him to be the next incarnation of Buddha Maitreya; and he was trained from his early childhood. So whatever he is saying — “you don’t need a Guru for anything” — it was wrong; he himself was trained. They made him an international name also. He didn’t just suddenly appear out of the blue and become famous.

What was the aim of training?

Guruji: That the spirit of the Buddha Maitreya would descend inside him — like the Holy Spirit descended into Jesus Christ. It was a big plan. If you have been trained by such powerful theosophical people, you naturally go through many experiences: you’re trained for that. But he was the cause of the organization’s disappearance. But I’ve read most of his books.

I like him so much, that’s why I’m asking…

Guruji: His talks are good, no doubt. But I’m a practical man — and I’m pointing out the practical background also. You must consider that also. See, everybody is talking good; who is not talking good?

In my opinion his talks are hard to understand.

Guruji: That’s why they are called philosophical talks: what you don’t understand — you just label it as philosophical.

SPIRITUALITY AND MONEY

The spirit is the main cause for every material thing: you need to accept this truth.

Then – you have a consciousness also, because spirit is giving you life; life gives you mind, consciousness; then it’s observation from some higher being: what he is deciding to do – pure selfish things – or he cares for the others also.

I’ve noticed myself: if society is prosperous and happy, you will be prosperous as well. If you alone are prosperous and happy – that will create too much jealousy and animosity towards you: it will be a dangerous situation. It is a very good idea to work so that the whole society becomes prosperous.

Mostly it is said that the more prosperous you are – the less spiritual you are?

Guruji: No, this is wrong. The more prosperous you are – and if you are a good person – you will be in a situation and position to help many, many other people also. And by creating some great work, you will be able to give jobs to hundreds and thousands of people: this is a very spiritual thing.

How?

God lives in our heart; so if you are giving 1000 people work, a job, money – means you are serving God indirectly: God is inside them also! Think like that.

But Jesus Christ says it’s very hard for a rich person to reach heaven?

Guruji: Because he can create a heaven on earth itself! That is another point which he failed to mention – or someone failed to record. If you are rich – you can create heaven for yourself and your friends and your dear ones: you don’t need to die to reach heaven. You can create it yourself! For this some money is required – and very good intentions.

MEMORIES OF PAST LIVES. REGRESSIONS

They were not able to categorize their memories; they were not intelligent enough to understand what they were seeing or remembering. Many people have a very different notion: that when they remember a past life they will see it like a series; but they have only glimpses – and they fail to recognize them.

But those who are successful – do they see only one past life or several lives?

Guruji: Immediately – one. We experimented for 2-3 days, then the substance was gone. If we had continued to do that – maybe they would have remembered more.

Is it difficult to prepare the substance?

Guruji: There was a tragedy also. One man from Gwalior – he is no more now – was under the impression that he had been a very great saint in his past life and had been doing great tapas. But sadly, when we experimented on him, he turned out to be just a barber. And it broke his heart. It was a very traumatic memory for him.

That was my question about the regression sessions: because everyone remembers he was a king or a great warrior; but nobody remembers he was a sweeper or a beggar?

Guruji: Exactly! But that thing made him remember that he was a simple barber. Usually people’s hidden desires come to the surface. I myself have seen 4 Cleopatras, 3 generals from Alexander’s army and a few kings.

One American came; he was an actor and had even worked with Bruce Lee. Muscular guy, tall, bald. My Guru refused to initiate him, but he came for 4-5 days. He was saying: “I was a general in Alexander’s army – so I’ve taken birth after 2000 years.” I simply told him: “I’m very happy to see my general after 2000 years” (smiling).

Then we asked him to demonstrate some kung-fu – which he did; I got the trick of it. Then we arm-wrestled – and I defeated him both times, in front of Shibendu Lahiri; he witnessed that. You should never pass up the opportunity: even if he had defeated me – well, he was a sparring partner of Bruce Lee – he could do that. But even then I won. He was very fit, maybe 6.3 feet tall, with big arms. He acted in some of Bruce Lee’s movies.

He became interested in Lahiri Mahasaya’s lineage only after reading the Autobiography of a Yogi. In the book which Yogananda’s younger brother wrote – Mejda – my Guru’s photograph is there.

Why did your Guru refuse that man?

Guruji: He simply refused without explanation.

HOW YANTRAS ORIGINATED

The life of two moments , we have to take one lifetime. Two moments birth and death are representing duality, one lifetime is non - duality.

That 4 yantras were the last from the 10 ones.

which yantras came the last?

Guruji: Matangi, Bhuvaneshwari, Kamala also; and maybe Shodashi – they mixed up in my mind now.

why they came exactly in this sequence – one first, others later?

Guruji: I’m still thinking on that. Less popular came the last. Most popular and known were first to arrive.

but Kamala yantra and Shri Yantra…

Guruji: different. Shodashi and Shri maybe one and the same. We are waiting what is next.

and You know in how exact sequence they must be installed?

Guruji: yes, I was told that.

but coming back for yantras: less popular doesn’t mean less powerful?

Guruji: they are equally powerful. They are maybe waiting for the certain time frame. But feeling is very different: they must be affecting the whole area. And I’ve never seen similar things anywhere.

are they connected somehow with dhuni?

Guruji: yes, 4 came after dhuni: so we can connect. Or maybe dhuni was needed for all 10 to be here. 6 were here before; after that dhuni came – then 4 more came. My sister had a vision: at 4 o’clock she woke everybody: that behind that room – we’ll be going and see it now. We called Mahatmajialso because it was locked; it was so rusty – he had to break the lock here. They were sitting inside with a note in red – ink or vermillion or something: a leaf was there. And there we saw the footprints of 2 inches- or 2,5 inches and 18-19 inches together. We still don’t know to whom they belong.

what about first 6? They came 2 then 4?

Guruji: first Babaji himself give – only one; then 2 came then again 2 came. Then 1 came. Kali and Tara came together and a smell of blood was everywhere. It was very scary. Babaji himself gave Shri Yantra.

and how Kali and Tara came?

Guruji: one man came; he took somebody’s name I don’t like – so I refused. Mahatmaji was visiting Shyam Bihari: they went to a shop, gave him that big heavy bag, - give it to him. And he brought it – and then were those 2 yantras. Then we assembled and put them  - and blood smell begin. Few Bengali disciples, they visiting – they recognised this is a smell of blood. Wherever I was moving – the smell of blood will follow. It was very scary; then I prayed and this stopped.

why it was? They were demanding something?

Guruji: no idea!

and the person who brought – You don’t know?

Guruji: no, I didn’t see him. Then Ganganath brought 2 – no, they were in the bag: there were 3.

GURUJI AND BABAJI — COMMUNICATION

Very creative, artistic, hard-working, focused on yoga, and happy people.

Do You have any news about Babaji’s activities now?

Guruji: He was in Benares for 2 years; he left Benares in 2019 after Diwali. He was there for 2 years. Sometimes he sent messages with a vision. Now current whereabouts – I have no idea. He is capable of sending that: if I desire – nothing; from his side – yes.

What is his interest nowadays?

Guruji: I have no idea: it is impossible to guess what an immortal person’s interests might be. But I feel very fortunate that sometimes some message comes. And I’m still waiting. In the meantime few messages came. Like those 4 yantras, stopping of the prayashchitta; and then there was some very technical issue – not even in yoga, besides, worldly thing; - precise advice came. Last night also absolute precise advice came. It was very important thing; you know Kusum Sarovar? Government was forcing me to take it and look after it; I said – ok. I will ask my Guru. I sent a mental request maybe 4-5 days before; last night he said: refuse! So I refused.

You’re hearing it like a voice – or You just know what it is?

Guruji: It’s a combination of that thought – combined with the scene. It was amazing for me to see Him – when He send that message: he lived in Benares for 2 years in a 2-room very small house with a small kitchen and bathroom; extremely narrow lane. And he had a haircut.

You have seen him?

Guruji: Yes, he sends impressions. And in 2 years of his living in Benares - whole Benares is now different. It is absolutely new now, in 2 years’ time! You should visit it now.

Now he also has haircut?

Guruji: I have not seen him. But they will continue to grow: he can have anything whatever he wants. He has many centuries - he can grow them, he can cut them.

You think he finished his mission there?

Guruji: Maybe his mission or maybe his entertainment; he just triggers a big chain reaction there. Very difficult to reach a conclusion there. But I feel fortunate that he shared this.

Have You received some messages from Matsyendranath also?

Guruji: From Matsyendranath – nothing. Only once he instructed me. But he is much senior person – so we don’t know.

ATTACHMENT AND DESIRE

I would like to know your perspective, attachment and desire.

Guruji: Okay. So what do you want me to say? The real practical wisdom or hypothetical philosophy?

Both.

Guruji: I will give you real practical.

Desire and attachment.

No one can be without attachment. It is a hypothetical situation. And you should also support your desires intelligently. Because your strong desire will become your ambition. And you should also work up enough strength to fulfill your ambition.

If you will not remain attached to your ambition, you will do nothing to achieve it. It’s up to you how you use these two things, intelligently and wisely.

Find your purpose. Only when you will find your ambition. Purpose will become very clear for you. And even the path of your life will become very clear for you — what you have to achieve.

And then you will begin to actually experience, for the first time, the concentration. Your whole life will be concentrated to fulfill that particular ambition.

And only after achieving that ambition, you will finally feel satisfaction. Till then, it will remain a struggle, a journey, an adventure, and so on.

So remain attached to your strongest desire. It will transform into ambition, and it will give you great drive to go forward and achieve it.

That is what I think. Thank you.

MONEY / THE FROG STONE AND THE SNAKE CHARMER

A caterpillar is not afraid to shift its caterpillar form – and fly away like a butterfly. It happens naturally. Instead of creating a cocoon we are creating a home and a house – and live there peacefully till the change will come.

There was a time when only gold and silver were money – and some metallic coins. Then it went to background and we were given pieces of paper - telling us this is money now. We adjusted with that. Now there is a digital number in your mobile; your somewhere this is money now. Even paper money is going on the background. Sometimes I'm afraid – because I'm old-fashioned man: somewhere somebody will push a button – and all digital money will disappear. Then, whatever you will have on your person, - only that will come to your help. So always keep some gold or silver on your person or at home in case of emergency. This is intelligent thinking.

______________________

When You were using the frog stone for the first time: Were You nervous when the snake bit that snake charmer?

Guruji: He is going to die and we can do nothing! Main frustration was that I can't do anything to save him. But he was the wiseman, he saved himself. That day I realised that philosophy is nothing. If I will telling him: don't worry, you're not a body, you are a spirit – he would have died. But his vidya, art from his Guru, saved him. Then I became even more friendly and I managed him to agree to teach me that – which he did.

But You did it Yourself?

Guruji:I have done it myself 5-6 times: it works. Every time it was the situation between life and death. This knowledge gives you real confidence. That's why I carry a knife and this thing; because if it is in the room and you're far away – it is a matter of seconds and minutes.

When someone is having a real supernatural experience, all family and friends are trying to explain: no, no, it was just your imagination, you maybe mistaken. That means: if you don't even believe me, how can I call you my family or my friends? If you're not even ready to believe what I'm going through. That is a shocking thing to realize.

This word "Lee" is connected with martial arts – Bruce Lee, Jet Lee and FamiLee (family).

DHUNI

1988 — this is a long time. This euphoria carries me over all those problems.

Could You say that the same feeling of euphoria came after meeting with Matsyendranath?

Guruji: It was euphoria — but some apprehension was there, because we needed to create the dhuni. After that — yes, big euphoria. You can say — it was a booster dose of euphoria. And see: after the dhuni was ignited — see how the discussion changed: it was too intense and different.

Is it like a portal or teleport, or the crossroads of the 6 lines of Time?

Guruji: Probably. It must be. One thing came to my mind — as we can see in time-travelling movies: as you go back and you see those events happening there; that means our existence is frozen in a certain frame of time — and it will remain so forever there.

You think it’s possible to travel in time and see Yourself in the past?

Guruji: I’m sure — why not? That particular existence is frozen there. It will remain there, repeating itself forever and ever.

Could it create some problems — if you communicate with yourself in the past?

Guruji: I don’t think so. No problem. But maybe in final nirvana you have to erase that also — from the stream of time. It’s a thought, think on that!

In movies, usually time-travelling is prohibited because you can annihilate yourself if you try to touch or communicate with yourself.

Guruji: We don’t know exactly; but it has happened — it will remain there.

So is it possible to go back to the past, change the past — then the present and future will also change?

Guruji: If you have a very great imagination to create planning of everybody concerned — who saw you at that moment and their past crossed: you have to be a very different type of fabric there. Very high imagination and creativity may be able to do that.

It means if you can travel in time like this — so you can overcome your own death? If it is like a point in future — so you can travel even after that? That you are no more — but you are there because you are travelling from the present?

Guruji: Of course — you can go beyond death there. This is what the Time conscious means.

AMBITION • FOCUS • LUCK • A WOMAN’S SUPPORT

Guruji, in one of Your videos You said that ambitions are very important for yogis?

Guruji: not only for yogis – for anybody.

but how is it possible to work hard and at the same time not to be attached to the results?

Guruji: we have been hearing it for more than 50 years now; and I make it different here. If you don’t have any ambition – then why will you work? What is the need for hard work – unless you are a slave? Slaves have no ambitions. And they work hard and get punished for nothing.

If you want to progress in anything – you must have something in your ambition. You must have a dream to follow! Otherwise – what will you do? Think!

What is Krishna saying? You work hard – but don’t think about the fall all the time. But that is a very highly technical situation: once you decide on a goal to achieve – then you work hard to achieve it, absolutely focused.

In that focus: don’t keep thinking whether you will be able to achieve that – or not achieve that; please don’t think about what will happen as a result! Concentrate on the goal – to fulfil the ambition which you have decided upon. Any other thought – and your concentration will go away and you will definitely not achieve it. It’s a highly technical point.

so work hard but at the same time enjoy the process?

Guruji: do it; but don’t doubt yourself at every step – whether I will achieve or not achieve, something will go wrong… that person is not focused.

And we also need to remember: Arjuna was the world champion warrior. And Krishna was the mightiest human being of his time. So those very mighty beings were discussing; their level of focus, their level of ambition was very high.

Once Napoleon was discussing the generals of his army; and someone suggested to him – that was a brilliant general, brilliant strategist and all these things. And what did Napoleon say? I agree absolutely with him. He asked: ok, he is very brilliant – but is he lucky also? Ultimately, it is luck which will swell the results.

So: be brilliant and also keep praying to Lady Luck that she will smile on you.

so, Lady Luck exists even for yogis?

Guruji: I’m sure, yes. Ladies’ support is extremely important!

even if a yogi is practicing very sincerely – he couldn’t achieve such results if he has a lack of luck?

Guruji: if he is a very open-minded person and he is very well-read and physically capable: it means he is lucky to have these qualities. He will achieve results!

If you are dreaming of going to the planet Mars – then you should have enough strength to create a spaceship and fly to Mars. Simply thinking is not enough; you must have enough strength to fulfil it.

And maybe, if luck decides – maybe some UFO will come and take you there. That possibility will always be there.

REACH THE BEACH OF THE OCEAN

So, after you have studied so hard and done such deep research, and then you started to practice yoga, and you expanded your limits to the level where you begin to understand what consciousness is and where it comes from.

And finally, at the end of the first chapter, you reach the beach of the ocean, where every speck of sand is a universe in itself, and the ocean you see is the ocean of consciousness.

You rest on the beach for some time because one chapter is over. Another journey, another chapter, is just beginning, which is in front of you.

Rest, then dive into the ocean of consciousness. Enjoy. Go deeper and deeper and deeper.

HOW TO TURN ANGER INTO A POSITIVE FORCE?

There is a very popular concept about the different types of shariras we have. What do You think about it?

Guruji: They were trying to explain something, and people took it as if there were different bodies. But they were just trying to explain something.

They say that negative emotions create holes in your bodies?

Guruji: But what do you think: might anger or any negative thought be a reaction to a certain situation or exposure to family or society? I’ve just told you: our social behaviour is reactive by nature. So, if you are facing something negative, negativity will definitely come inside. It is very difficult to avoid such things. So, face it!

If, after communicating with someone, a person feels a lack of energy, does it mean that his energy structure was damaged?

Guruji: That means he is not strong enough to be angry. Anger can potentially make you very strong from time to time—if you use it in a very positive way; otherwise, it will damage you.

If you cannot reach the target…

Guruji: If you are able to tolerate the force of your anger within yourself.

How can you understand that you are ready to tolerate that force?

Guruji: If you have tolerated it, then you are ready to tolerate it (smiling). Otherwise, let it out in any way you want. If the object is weaker than you, give him some kicks and punches and use all the bad words you can. But avoid problems with the police.

But is it better to keep it inside and try to transform it?

Guruji: If you do not react, then the situation will change. After you have learned to control your reactions, you will also learn to act in a certain way to get the desired reactions: that will make you more intelligent than the layman.

We need to think deeply about that. It’s a matter of understanding, which always develops very slowly. It takes its own time.

PARAMPARA PROTECTION REALISATION

Once the lineage has accepted you – you are no longer an ordinary person. Have more confidence in yourself – and in the Gurus.

do they experience something just before death?

Guruji: they will know exactly when they are going to depart from this world and who will be waiting on the other side for them. Lineage doesn’t mean that it will support you only in this life: the Guru’s support extends beyond this world.

All social behaviour is just a reaction to a certain situation. When you begin to see – it is all reaction upon reaction upon reaction – and you stop reacting; then you realize the head, from where the reaction started.

Parampara will not abandon you when you need help or something: help will always be provided. This life – or afterlife. Not only in practice – in any emergency situation you will receive help. This world or other world.

what is final realization?

Guruji: when your spirit is not possessing you. It can be called kaivalya or the final liberation also. And I think, liberation from the very mundane point of view: when you are beyond all your problems; nobody is bothering you: that is as good as liberation while you are living here, in this world.

when we are out of Govardhan – all these problems are attacking with double force.

Guruji: think positively: your problems are your true supporters! They will always remain with you! (laughing) They will never leave you alone. But – that’s how we learn: it’s a learning process.

it doesn’t mean that with a certain level of development all of us become the same? Because all of us have very different peculiarities; so maybe we should reach a certain standard?

Guruji: no, you will always retain your individuality – but with a very great level of understanding: that may be the same quality. Physical appearance may become similar after a certain level. This I’m noticing. I think if I lose 3–4 more inches from my middle – I will start to resemble him 90%.

You analyse what you have eaten in the last 36 hours; and if the day and the breath are very good – analyse what you have eaten; so repeat that food more and avoid the bad food. You have to find it out yourself.

 PRACTICE AND FAMILY

now from my level of understanding I think that one consciousness can meet the other one only by some communication – like talking, for example?

Guruji: how will water merge into another water? Imagine a cup of water; how will it merge into a greater body of water? By crossing the limits. Then only will you merge. That’s why I keep telling you: go beyond your physical limits!

There is a word used by Matsyendranath – in Hindi also: avagati, avagat hojan. Suddenly becoming aware: that is cognition. Recognition is when, because of your memory, you are able to recognize something. But becoming aware is instant, on the spot.

only after Atit Ghat will we have this ability?

Guruji: I think so, yes. When whatever you are observing is not dependent on your memory or on something you have read before. That awareness can be called cognition.

I’ve heard that all your surroundings and your family affect your practice?

Guruji: yes, it’s true.

and we also are affecting them by our practice?

Guruji: their true nature will come to the surface: no more diplomacy. If their nature is grouchy – they will become even more grouchy.

if it is kids?

Guruji: it will affect them in a very positive way. And what is family if they are not even supporting you in something you want to do very seriously? Everybody tries to give you a lecture: “It’s nothing – why are they going to this land?” If they are real family – they will support you. Real friends – they will support you. They will believe you also.

Guruji, what do you think: the practice of Kriya, in any case, will increase the positive qualities of the person who starts?

Guruji: yes. And a person’s negative qualities will feel confronted: that reaction I’ve seen many times.

so with the practice, must the practitioner overcome them or outgrow them? How does it develop?

Guruji: a negative person will never become a yogi. You can relax!

VYAS JI

I’ve read almost every mythological book available in India; all religious books, all philosophy, and some portions of the Vedas also; some rishis stand out.

One thing which Vyas Ji did, no one has ever done before. It is written in the Mahabharat that when Dhritarashtra, Gandhari, Kunti, and Vidur – maybe Sanjay also – went to the jungle to do some tapas and just pass their last days, Yudhishthir decided to go there.

So 1.6 billion widows followed him there. You can imagine the sorrow and the atmosphere there: 1.6 billion widows – those who had lost their husbands in the battle – following Yudhishthir.

They found them, and while they were just greeting each other, Vyas Ji came. And He simply said: “I will call every dead person who died in the battle by the bank of the Ganges.”

He went into the water and invoked them. Every dead person who had died in the battle started to come out of the water. It is the biggest miracle I’ve ever heard of.

The whole night they were there, and even all those Kauravas and Pandavas were seeing each other, and very friendly they were talking the whole night.

Then, in the early morning, when the cock crowed, Vyas Ji said: “Any woman who loves her husband can go with her husband.”

All the ladies, when they started to go into the water, jumped in with them. And then it is said that they were sent with their husbands to different dimensions, wherever they were going.

This miracle stands alone. I’ve never, ever come across any similar episode.

When this story was told to Janamejaya, he doubted it. Vyas Ji was there, and in one second He called his father there. Just like that!

No other rishi has done it. They have performed great miracles, but to call 1.6 million dead people and send their wives with them – unheard of.

I think it was the biggest miracle. So we respect Vyas Ji and hope He will bless us.

FREE WILL

It is already too late.

It was not your choice and will which school you would go to. Someone else decided it for you.

Your name also—you didn’t choose it. Someone else did.

It’s already too late.

So enjoy what you have now.

Actually, this is the biggest illusion: that you have been given free will.

On one hand, you are told that everything is God’s will. His will is, yours is not.

Accept it.

THE BATTLE FOR THE SMASHAN

how old is this cremation ground? And how were they able to build these kshattris? What type of technologies did they use?

Guruji: that is special architecture from Rajasthan and Bharatpur. This house is 200 years old; and Babaji’s building was built in 1823, three years after this house. And Hanuman Ji’s building came later.

so the house was the first?

Guruji: yes; the kund was there – and the kshattris are the cremation spots of Brijendr Singh and Balwant Singh.

how were they able to create such precious and precise stonework?

Guruji: handmade only. These types of buildings are one and only in the world. When I bought this place – it was in a very bad condition; even though it was archaeologically protected – nobody was doing anything. So I took it as a big responsibility – because they are not going to build like this anymore; so we tried our best to preserve it. That’s why I don’t allow many people to enter.

how long have You been living here?

Guruji: I have completed my 33rd year. This house is more than 200 years old; it was built in 1820. It is absolutely square: 21 meters by 21 meters – and there are 108 doors in this house. This is a one-bedroom house – I live here alone. Nobody could live here before: they were either found dead – or went mad.

why can we be here now?

Guruji: because I’m here! 33 years – and repairs are still going on. Now I was told that the Government is again giving 1 million dollars for the restoration of the kund and all those kshattris. They are planning to clean the kund and put stone on the steps. They will strengthen the roofs of the kshattris and make them completely waterproof. And all the floors will be made of stone.

are they planning to drain the kund?

Guruji: I’m very curious to see it – how it will go the second time. This time they are going to bring big pumps. Now people can’t imagine how this place looked when I came here: now it looks like another life, another time. But I remember every inch of the struggle.

SHIVA JI PARVATI AND KAMADEV

when You have perceived these two forces in Your own body, how was it?
Guruji: when you are aware of these things – then you are aware where they are. That gives you so many different perspectives on so many things. Very different experiences.

could You differentiate in Your body: this is Time and this is Space?
Guruji: now I can see that. The body is a miniature representation of the Universe. From one point of view – it’s vast and big also; it depends on your point of view.

Shiva Ji married Parvati after burning Kamadev; does it mean that it was the experience of pure love without lust or attachment?
Guruji: most marriages are for reproduction; and yet they never reproduced anyone. It’s a very different thing.

maybe it was done deliberately to let Parvati attain the state close to Shiva Ji?
Guruji: I think so, yes. That was the reason: to let her evolve to his level. When he married Sati – Kamadev was there. And again, it was the revolution against Brahma. Kamadev was his project.

And remember: Shiva Ji was teaching yoga to Parvati – not Sati – when Matsyendranath heard it in the form of a fish. In all Tantras, Shiva Ji is talking to Parvati. You can see the line: how the burning of Kamadev led to yoga coming to humanity.

There was no previous avatar before Krishna who was called Yogeshwar, because yoga was not available for everybody. That brings us to another interesting conclusion: the marriage of Shiva and Parvati took place after Rama. Daksha Yagya happened after Rama; then, after a long time, Parvati appeared. That is between the incarnations of Rama and Krishna. That means Matsyendranath is senior to Krishna but came after Rama, if we go by the story.

He teaches how to become immortal – after Rama Avatar, after Daksha Yagya, and before Krishna. Even the thousands of years of tapas that Parvati performed didn’t lead to immortality: only Shiva Ji could teach her how to become immortal.

ASHWATTHAMAN AND AGNEYASTRA

could You tell us that amazing story about Agneya astra?

Guruji: we found the village; there is a very big pond – now it’s a pond, full of water. And some very old people remember this – now only 2 or 3 remain. The new generation is too busy to know these things.

I was living on my farm in Gwalior, and two of my disciples – Dwaraka Prasad Shastri and Upendra Vyas – heard from someone that a very old man was living in that particular village. It was far away from Gwalior, and he knew the Agneya astra: the celestial weapon of fire, which is described in Mahabharat. And he was willing to teach some good brahmin. They were thinking they were good brahmins – so they went there. I said: you have my permission – go!

They came back after one week, because they had to walk a long distance to reach that village – it was a very remote place. They came back with a fantastic story.

The old man was more than 100 years old then. He was the priest of the village temple. And at those times, most of the villagers would bring some flour and some other things, because some sadhus – the wandering sadhus – took food only from brahmins; it was part of their discipline.

And there was a big landowner: he was a very-very bad person – he was in his late fifties. A very notorious womanizer, known as a heavy sinner.

The priest was a widower, and he had a daughter – 14–15 years old, very beautiful. That landowner heard about her beauty – he may have seen her somehow. He sent one man to him; because the priest also knew some astrology, he asked for a good muhurta, the time for the marriage to take place. So innocently he did it.

Then he told him: make your daughter ready as a bride, my boss is coming to marry her.

That was a big blow to the father; I mean, no father would like such a person. His daughter was only 14, and the man was in his fifties, such a debauched person. He was worried because the landowner was a very powerful man – no one had come to help him.

Then, on the sixth or seventh night, somebody knocked. He opened the door: a tall, very strong-looking, shapely man was standing there, with long hair. He said: I’m a sadhu, can you give me food? I eat only barley.

That was a normal crop there; he said – please! They cooked, and he was just sitting, looking at them. They served him food; he ate it.

Then he asked: you are looking very worried; if you tell me, I may be able to help. You have to tell me.

The man started to weep because he was powerless to do anything; and the whole story came out.

And the man told him: if you have faith in me, if you can give me food for seven days – because the muhurta was after seven days – I will protect your daughter. Your problem will disappear.

Looking at his confidence, the priest was convinced. He gave him a place in the temple, which was a little away from his home.

And as the priest told, he never saw him lying down: he was always sitting, covered with a sort of shawl from top to toe – but always sitting, never lying down.

So the day arrived – the promised day; and some men from the landowner came.

And that man told them: you tell those men that he is the cousin of my daughter, her elder brother – so he will do all the things.

They started; the camp of the landowner was there – the big landowner had a camp with 50–60 people with rifles and horses.

Then that man told him: I’m your ancestor (he was also belonging to Bharadwaj gotra) – and I’ve heard your heart cry. I was passing by, so I came.

Don’t tell anybody; when I say “run” – run, don’t look back. And I will go away from here: you will never see me again.

He became even more afraid hearing that.

So they went to the place, and he told the men sitting there: he is the elder brother of my daughter, her cousin; he will do all the things.

He saw the man just catch a pinch of grass from the ground and tell him – run!

Then he ran.

And there was a big blast behind him – as if some very big bomb had gone off. He kept running, without looking back.

When the villagers heard the big blast – they also came running. And they saw the priest running away, so they said: what happened?

He said – I don’t know, Ashwatthaman came there – but nobody believed him.

When they went there, there was a very big pit, and its sides had turned into glass – as if it had been an atomic blast. Not a single thing remained – everything was incinerated: even the rifles and everything else – no trace.

The villagers refused to believe that Ashwatthaman had come; they thought: oh, he knows Agneya astra and did that.

So his reputation became great, and everybody began to be afraid of him for the rest of his life.

Then that girl was married in some village near Kanpur.

So they came back with this story.

Recently, two years back, one of my disciples kept doing research. I told him, and he found the village. Now that pit which had formed is a big pond, full of water.

And only one very old man – more than 90 years old – remembered that. Otherwise, nobody remained.ASHWATTHAMAN AND AGNEYASTRA

RASALINGAM AND WORK WITH MERCURY

what are the qualities of a Shivalingam made of mercury?
Guruji: very good business here.

someone ayurvedic specialists whom You talked with: have they tried to create the real Rasalingam?
Guruji: everybody was aware – but they couldn't do it. But any dentist could tell you how to create an amalgam of mercury.

how much mercury is needed to create a Shivalingam of about 30–40 kilos?
Guruji: only that much mercury. But because mercury is denser – you will have to take more mercury to bring it up to that size. It's a very heavy liquid metal. I've rarely seen a person without amalgamation who was able to make mercury solid; maybe one or two times. Only a lingam made of mercury is considered the holiest of the holy. It's the rarest of the rare.

If you're able to make mercury solid and your mind solid – what can you not achieve then? Even in Hatha Yoga Pradipika they were all aware of this. If you're able to do it with mercury – that means you are a past master in alchemy. You have learnt too much; and when you are able to control your mind also – what can you not achieve?

if the yogi achieves a very high stage of development, when his mind is awakened 100%, will he somehow obtain the knowledge of how to make mercury solid?
Guruji: if such a yogi simply touches mercury – it will become solid. Because if he is able to develop his mind to this level – the whole chemical composition of his body will be super-alchemical. So just by touching it – it will become solid.

One ayurvedic man achieved good results; you could not just pick up the mercury from the surface like normal metal, but he treated mercury in such a way that you were able to pick it up even though it was soft. He passed away more than 40 years ago.

why did he stop? Because of the expense of the ingredients?
Guruji: no, he was successful to that level. He wanted more, but success came only to this level.

There are such beings: the more we know about them – the more aware we become of our own inferiority.
